The Secret to Making a Perfect Pan Pizza

Here at Off The Menu we have 6 different pizzas in our collection of recipes.  Well, we are about to add one more to that list: the pan pizza.  With a crust that is crispy on the outside, and spongy on the inside, it's just a perfect and tasty end to a hectic day.

Dough Ingredients:

  • 1 1/3 cup water
  • 1/4 cup non-fat dry milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons yeast (1 package)
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Dough Steps:

Microwave the water for 30 seconds so that it is warm.

In a medium sized bowl, combine the non-fat dry milk, the sugar, the yeast, and the water.

Allow to sit for a few minutes.

Add the salt, oil, and flour to the water mixture.

Stir until dough forms.

Knead for ten minutes.

Immediately split the dough into three equal parts.

Evenly coat 3  9" pans (I used a Nordic Ware Round Layer Cake Pan) liberally with vegetable oil.

Flatten out each ball before placing it into the pan.

Using clean fingers, press out the dough to fill the pan (put a little flour on top of the dough to prevent it from sticking to your fingers.)

Cover each pan with a plate, and let it rise for 1 1/2-2 hours.

When it is time for pizza pre-heat the oven to 475 degrees F.

Top your pizza homemade sauce with your favorite toppings.

Bake until the edges of the crust are browned and the cheese is bubbly.

This delicious pizza would be great for during the game!
